What I'm working on...

Just wanted to share what I'm working on right now.

For whatever reason I have multiple skeins of green yarn. I have been wanting to make some kind of shaw/shrug thing so I figured I'd use up these that I already have.

It reminds me of moss and shag carpeting haha.... I started this last night, have only 13 rows finished but I can't wait to show you how this turns out.

Upcycled womens blazer to girls skirt

Houndstooth Skirt and Leggings

I started with this very large houndstooth suit jacket, shoulder pads included.

I also had this old t-shirt with lace trim at the bottom

I was able to make leggings out of the t-shirt, if you have ever made yoga pants from a t-shirt I did it pretty much the same way just tinnier.

The back bottom section of the jacket is what I used to make the skirt, pretty basic but I added elastic to the back of it to avoid needing a zipper and still having a flat front.

I used scraps from the t-shirt to make the big bow.

                                                            The final product

This was going to be my entry for Project Recycled but I was voted out this week.

Layered Circle Skirt

I made this skirt for my daughter, I used the basic circle skirt pattern. I cut the 2 fabrics the same but different lengths.

So here is what it looks like with the fabric ready to go

I added store bought bias tape to both the layers, if you have ever made a circle skirt and used bias tape you know it takes a lot of it! like more than one package of the store bought stuff so thats why I went the easy route with this particular skirt.

Pinned them together at the top

I used 1 1/2 in elastic and didnt make a casing. I just added it to the top.
If you do this make sure your thread matches your elastic because stretching and sewing doesn't make for an easy straight stitch so matching colors help hide any mistakes.

Its just not warm enough for skirts right now but I am getting ready for summer. I can't wait either!

Thats the jist of this layered circle skirt. If you want to make one for yourself you can find out how to find your measurments all over the internet just google or go here.

I'm Baaaaaacck!

I feel bad... I know I have neglected my little blog for the past few months but time has been hard to find.

I recently participated in an online competition
Project Recycled

That took a lot of time because I had deadlines which is something I have never been good with. I am always last minute and when I have restrictions and guidelines with crafts it is not easy for me. Sooo between that and  keeping up with Crafty Girl Squared I have let this fall into the background.  I am excited to say I have recently done some re-organizing in my life, in my house and with my schedule which includes making more time for this tiny little blog of mine.

Very soon I will be showing you two skirts I made in the past week. Stay tuned!
